Call for DNA sample collection to be made compulsory in criminal cases

The draft CO Bill has been sitting with Cabinet since 2017. This means that it is currently not compulsory for convicted offenders to have their DNA samples taken and profiles added to the National DNA database.

This would ensure convicted offenders are being held accountable for committing more crimes and deter other criminals. We need government to #PasstheCOBill so that we can get violent criminals off the streets and make South Africa safer for all.
