'It’s not a lack of funds. It’s a lack of urgency' - Action Society on DNA backlog

“Shame on you! Shame on all of you! You don’t deserve to be called leaders” says eNCA anchor Thulasizwe Simelane after speaking to Action Society Spokesperson, Elanie van der Walt about the current DNA backlog and how it’s affected survivors of gender-based violence and other violent crime in South Africa.

“It’s not a lack of funds. It’s a lack of urgency. It’s a lack of responsibility. When will government make good on their promise to reduce the DNA backlog? We need to hold government, SAPS and the DNA Oversight Board accountable to their DNA backlog plan” says Elanie van der Walt of Action Society commenting on why neither the DNA Oversight Board nor the Minister of Police is being more effective in the fight against crime.
